Winget ended the night with 22-points 22-points as Spartan top scorer. r By ALAN HAACKE MURRAY The Murray Spartans powered past the Woods Cross Wildcats 72-50 Friday, dashing 'Cat head Coach Kevin Wilson's hope of revenging an early ear-ly season loss. u "The roof fell in, Wilson said after a game that saw four of his top players foul out and another ejected. For the first five minutes of the game both teams pounded the hardwood and traded points, keep-( keep-( ing the score tied. But Spartan forward for-ward Jeremy Winget ignited, dropping dropp-ing basket after basket. By the end of the quarter, Winget had garnered 10 of Murray's 15-8 lead. With the second quarter under way. Wildcat luck faded, as three minutes passed before the 'Cats scored. Toward the end of the quarter, a controversial back-court call gave the ball back to the Spartans, Spar-tans, and with only 2:36 left in the half, Murray forward Kevin Carlston dropped a 3 -pointer, only adding to Wildcat frustration and Murray left the court with a 35-19 lead. A three-point shot by Ryan Creer added to the Woodcross offensive, and the 'Cats surged back to within eight points. Again Spartan secret weapon Winget led another attack, and by the end of the third quarter the Spartans Spar-tans were back to a 52-37 lead. A change in game plan, and Wilson's Wildcats began the fourth quarter with a full court press. Wildcat insider Brian Tayler also came to life earning all 6 of his points in eight minutes. The Wildcat charge lost its steam, however, as several top 'Cat players fouled out. Mike Gurr, John Wickhizer, Matt King, and Jamie Coombs all took to the bench with five fouls, while Matt Cosper was disqualified after a technical. Kener's Spartans capitalized on the Wilcat misfortune, stretching his team's lead to 22 points by the end of the game. "You can't win if you can't score,' said 'Cat coach Wilson. "Our offense looked awful tonight. to-night. .everything fell apart," Wilson added.
