Show Hansen may miss debate BOUNTIFUL--The Han senB runs dale debate set for Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce meeting will probably not include Rep. Jim Hansen, according to the congressman's congress-man's spokesman Peter Jenks. "The congressman would like to attend but right now it looks doubtful," said Jenks. He explained that the uncertainty of his congressional con-gressional obligations makes it difficult to judge his schedule. Chamber Director Haven Burningham said he is disappointed that Hansen is not going to appear. "This would have been a good opportunity oppor-tunity for the voters to hear the issues debated. We'll be very disappointed disap-pointed if Hansen can't be here,' ' he said. The planned debate would have introduced the two candidates for the first congressional district, incumbent republican Rep. Jim Hansen, who is now serving his fifth term of office as a representative represen-tative of Utah, and his democratic challenger, Bountiful resident Attorney At-torney Kenley Brunsdale, who has served as an administrative assistant assis-tant to Rep. Wayne Owens in Washington, D.C. Jenks said if Hansen cannot attend the meeting he will send Ted Stewart in his place. Stewart is a former administrative assistant to the congressman. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct 12, at noon in the Ser-vus Ser-vus Drug Pine Room, 55 N. Main, Bountiful. Cost for the lunch is $6. |
