Farmington boasts a perfect 6-0 , record this year while South Davis w Junior High ends the season 4-2. Ironically, both of the Spartans' losses came at the hands of the 9f undefeated Farmington team, f arm- " ington beat Mueller Park 15-9, 15- 13 to qualify for Friday's finals b, while South Davis upset a previous- n) ly unbeaten North Layton team in 'to two R3 Thursday to qualify for the finals. In second game action, South Davis battled back from a six point deficit to tie the game at 12. But that was as close as the Spartans would come. Farmington came ? back to score three unanswered n points and claim the title. Cook said her team felt confident going into the match. c "We had beaten South Davis in t: two games earlier in the season, so we thought we could do it again, said Cook. "A lot of our girls are really skilled. They supported each other and worked well together. ' ' South Davis Coach Sharon Wangsgard was happy with her team's play. "They played their hearts out and gave everything they had today." said Wangsgard. "Farmington hurt us with their big hitters. They have a couple of high school hitters. We covered a lot of their shots, but our team is a little short, and that hurts us. ' ' Davis County junior high school volleyball wrapped up regular season play and headed into the county tournament which began on Thursday. In the final regular season games, South Davis Junior High survived a second game rally-i-t-- Mill Creek to win 15-2, 15-13. Mill Creek ended the season with a 1-4 record. Mueller Park beat Bountiful Junior High in two games, 15-4, 15-1 to better its record to 3-2 before losing to Farmington Farm-ington in the playoffs. Bounti fill's season ended with an 0-5 record. Farmington beat Centerville Junior Ju-nior High, 15-6, 15-5. Centerville's record dropped to 2-3. |
