Show Police Department moves Bv EDEN BODILY FARMINGTON-The Farm-ington Farm-ington Police Department has gone undercover. Under new cover, that is. Police and fire forces Monday began service from their new building at 82 N. 100 E. in Farm-ington. Farm-ington. Police Chief Jeff Jacobson said the new building is a combination of rock and stucco "like no other building in the area," and that so far no one has had trouble finding it. "The fire bays in the back give it away," he said. He said the easiest part of moving mov-ing actually was establishing phone and radio service. The phone company com-pany kept lines ringing at both locations loca-tions during the move, and the radio was moved within a matter of hours during a time that is usually quiet. The phone number has not changed. Jacobson said the new building was originally intended to house only the fire department, but was expanded to include all public safety safe-ty organizations in one building. The old police station will be used for public works, with the recreation recrea-tion center taking up former police space. The project was financed by a $170 million bond, Jacobson said. A dedication and open house will be held in conjunction with Farm-ington Farm-ington Fiesta Days 7:30 p.m., July 12 at the station. The public is welcome. |
