Show H I J ! k j . f RICHARD J. LEWIS Lewis retires Richard J. Lewis, principal of Millcreek Junior High School in Bountiful, will retire in July after 34 years as an educator in the Davis School District Friends, school acquaintances ac-quaintances and family honored him at an open house held Thursday, Thurs-day, May 17, at Millcreek Junior High. Lewis is a life-long resident of Davis County. He attended elementary elemen-tary schools in the area, graduated from Davis High in 1951, and earned earn-ed a degree in education from the University of Utah, He served in the military service from 1954-55, then joined the Davis School District in 1956 as a teacher of health, math and athletics at Bountiful Junior High. He taught these same subjects at Bountiful High School from 1964 to 1966, after which he served as head football coach, then vice principal prin-cipal at Viewmont High until 1971. He left Viewmont to become principal at Centerville Junior High, transferring to Millcreek Junior High in 1981, where he served as principal until his retirement. He has been a member of prestigious committees in which district policies have been established. estab-lished. He has been an excellent, sensitive and caring administrator, who has great respect for and from parents, teachers and students. Lewis is married to the former Connie Stevenson, of Layton, and they have five children. He is an avid tennis player, loves sports of all kinds and spends his spare time in service to senior citizens and his neighbors. |
