The Braves defeated Mountain Crest 7-2 on Tuesday, Murray 13-3 on Wednesday, and Spanish Fork 11-5 on Thursday. Both of Boun-tifuls Boun-tifuls losses in the double elimination elimina-tion tournament were to Springville, who captured this years State Title. The Braves lost to Springville 13-2 in the opening round, and then again in the final 17-0. After the opening round setback the Braves bounced back against Mountain Crest. Blake Dawson pitched pit-ched that game. Their next opponent was Region Six champ Murray, who had badly beaten Bountiful twice during the regular season. John Harmon pitched pitch-ed for the Braves and helped to pull off the upset. Pitcher Matt Walton went the distance against Spanish Fork guiding the Braves to an 11-5 victory vic-tory that would advance the team to the championship game. In the final against Springville, Murphy's law seemed to take over as everything that could go wrong did. Springville was up only 2-0 in the 4th inning with two outs when they scored seven unearned runs. It was all downhill after that. The team felt it was a real accomplishment ac-complishment to take second in the state, and with such a young team the Braves look to be contenders again next year. With only a handfull of Seniors leaving, including Tyler Burning-ham, Burning-ham, Matt Walton, Jeff Parrish, Jim Ivaster and Jeff Casper, Bountiful should indeed be a force to contend with in their respective region and state games. Bountiful catcher, number 24 Jeff Parrish, is congratulated by coach Phil Olsen at third base after Parrish hit a left field Home Run against Spanish Fork. v -J . f - 8 H r f ? 1 ; I V - ? - V.
