Show Secrist named to first team SIOUX CITY, Iowa Briar Cliff College senior Reed Secrist has been named a first-team All-American All-American by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Secrist, an outfielder from Fruit Heights, Utah, was one of 15 players from across the country coun-try to be cited by the NAIA. He is the first Briar Cliff student-athlete student-athlete to receive first-team All-A All-A me nic an baseball honors. Secrist made the most out of his one season in a Charger uniform. The transfer from the University of Texas set school single-season marks in batting average (.471), hits (80), home runs (23) and RBI (72). He also led Coach Dan McDermott's 39-17 39-17 Chargers in on-base percentage percen-tage (.549) and slugging percentage percen-tage (1.012), and ranked second in runs scored (60), doubles (17), triples (3) and stolen bases (12). Secrist had earlier been named the NAIA District 15 Player of the Year and became the first player in the history of the Briar Cliff baseball program tajse named NAIA Area 4 PlaTJrf the Year. v"y |
