Show New Utah Solicitation Guide distributed L -i Every three months the Utah Solicitation Guide is distributed by the Better Business Bureau. The guide lists over 70 local solicitors and whether they meet or do not meet the Bureau's local solicitation standards. Solicitors that have not responded to the Bureau, or who cannot be located or are not in fact charitable, are also listed. Several standards must be met for an organization to solicit itself as charitable. Specific information must be provided on request. A reasonable percentage of total income in-come must be applied to the organization's purpose and to the stated purposes of solicitation. Solicitations must follow set guidelines and rules. Soliciting organizations must have an adequate, ade-quate, independent, volunteer-governing volunteer-governing body. Of the organizations evaluated, 26 of 32 passed the inspection. Six of the 32 organizations evaluated did not meet one or more of the BBB Solicitation Standards. Twenty-four organizations have refused to provide current information informa-tion to the BBB, and thus it cannot be determined if they adhere to the provisions. Eight organizations are in the process of being evaluated, five organizations were postmarked "Undeliverable" and contact is unavailable.
