Show 'The Last Supper' painting on exhibit at LDS Museum To commemorate the Easter season, a collection of notable worldwide artists impressions of Leonardo da Vinci's immortal Renaissance painting, "The Last Supper,' is now on display at the Museum of Church History and Art. The exhibit opened last weekend and immediately drew crowds of appreciative visitors, according to Glen M Leonard, museum director. The attractive and unusual artistic works will be on display in the foyer until May 8. Artists from outside the United States include Salvadore Dali's gold bas relief, Spain; a handmade ceramic ce-ramic by the Capodimonte Ceramics Company, Italy; Yun-Szu Chang's paper drawing, Taiwan; Richard Burde's oil on canvas, Germany; and William Henry Margetsons water color and grease pencil on paper, England. From the United States the list includes Harrison Begay Jr.'s Santa Clara Indian pottery. New Mexico; f reproduction of da Vinci's original on a paper fanV Utah; Beth Anne Andersen's "Place Setting," a pastel on paper, Utah; a rendering in bronze by Gary Price, Utah; Kay Craig's crocheted wall hanging in heavy ecru, California, and Max in e Cook's sacrament tablecloth, handmade with a crocheted insert of the "Last Supper," Utah. The museum, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is located just west of Temple Tem-ple Square in downtown Salt Lake City and is open Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays, Sat-urdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. |
