Show The money for education was tied to enrollments FARMINOTON-The money needed to finance education was closely tied to growing enrollments and increases in the number of staff members needed to provide educational educa-tional services. In 1979-CO the total district budget was $72,331,900. The 1989-90 1989-90 budget is $148,331,770. The district employed 56 school principals in 1979-80. This number increased to 64 in 1989-90. The budget for principals'' salaries was $1,960,600 in 1979-80. Today, $3,818,300 was set aside for principals' salaries. Curriculum supervisors received $627,400 in 1979-80. The curriculum cur-riculum supervisor budget for 1989- 90 increased to $1,158,600. Administrators work eleven months out of the year. They have no paid vacations. In 1979-80 there were 1,471 teachers employed in Davis County. Coun-ty. They received $25,667,600 in salaries. The beginning teacher salary for a person with a B.S. degree at the beginning of the decade was $10,672. The number of teachers hired in Davis District this year was 2,137. This year's budget allocated $52,302,900 for teacher salaries. The average salary for a beginning teacher with a B.S. degree in 1989-90 1989-90 was $16,104. In 1984 the state started a career ladder program which offered financial fi-nancial incentives to select teachers who perform tasks above the normal nor-mal teaching assignments. This year Davis District received $4,032,160 in career ladder money. This is passed directly on to teachers who qualify for the various career ladder programs. - |
