Ford engine donated to VHS Viewmont High School students turned in the highest aggregate score and won a Ford 5.0 liter fuel-injected fuel-injected engine for their school automotive department. They participated par-ticipated in in the recent Auto-Tech Fest at Salt Lake Community College. Col-lege. The score earning them the grand prize was in the form of a college-level college-level automotive aptitude test. Second prize went to Bountiful High, in the form of a Nissan engine; and third was garnered by Layton High, which was awarded a series of shop manuals. SLCC's Auto-Tech Fest also provided nearly 300 high school students from the Wasatch Front with several short presentations on the future of the auto industry. There were displays of drag-racing machines, as well as current model autos and heavy-duty trucks. Other vendors showed tools and various specialty items. The auto industry believes recent advances in technology will offer high-tech careers for technicians! with automotive electronics and computer skills. |
