Show WITH THE BINGHAM HIGH SEMINARY TABLE TENNIS CHAMPS There's a time for work and a time for play. In Seminary we do both. A doubles and singles ping pong tournament and a Chinese and regular checkers tournament, too, have just been completed and were they excit-' excit-' ing. The finals were played at a lovely party held Monday night, March 14, where games were played by all and refreshments were served under direction of Beverly Wright, Diane Reed, Karen Bell and Kay Beckstead. The tournament ended with Dick Michaelsen as first place winner of the singles and Joe , Orgill and Dale Carpenter tak ing the doubles. Dick was award- ! ed a beautiful gold trophy on which his name was engraved. A plaque was won by Joe and Dale which will have their names nam-es engraved upon it and will be hung in the Seminary. Bobbie Lee Johnson and Joyce DeCol took second place in the doubles while Maxine Garrett was runner run-ner up in the singles. Consolation Consola-tion championships were won by Joe Orgill, singles, and Gay Armitstead and Doris Abplanalp took the doubles consolation. Each of the previous persons was awarded a tiny wooden trophy pn which there was a ping pong ball with each persons "name written on it. They were made by Mr. Berrett and Dale Carpenter. Carpen-ter. In checkers outlasting all the other players in both Chinese and regular checkers tournaments tourna-ments was Joe Orgill, with Dorothy Doro-thy Garrett second in both. Beverly Bev-erly Wright won consolation a-ward a-ward in Chinese checkers and Doris Abplanalp took the regular. regu-lar. Yes, in Seminary we work in our study of the Gospel, but we do relax after school with many varieties of recreation. "SEMIREE" Let's all attend the "Semiree". It will be held next Friday night, March 25th at the Copperton Ward Recreation hall. Admission is $1.00 a couple. Committees are working hard on the dance to make it a huge success, so lets all support them and the Seminary and really make it "The Loveliest Night of the Year". Reported by Ellen Beth Thomas. |
