Show ?;" Y'y " 'ffZ': 1f ff'i Historical society preparing booklet, needs information By DONETA GATHERUM LAYTON-The Kaysville-Layton Kaysville-Layton Historical Society is preparing prepar-ing a booklet commemorating the 75th year of Davis High School, they need information about the Bountiful High School which opened open-ed in 190 and operated until Davis was completed in 1914-15. The school was also called South Davis. , According to the first Davis High year book, school was held in the Relief Society Hall near Stoker School. This site was called the 'Granary ,' Was there a storehouse or a tithing yard in Bountiful in conjunction con-junction with the Relief Society Hall? If not, why was it called the "granary?" ; Leslie Foy in his book, The City Bountiful, says the Relief Society building also served as a city hall. There was an iron cage outside the school that had been used for the city jail. This is interesting because the first Davis High was held in the old Kay sville Academy building. It had a barred windowed room that ' the students called "the jail.",1 v The first Davis yearbook con- j tains ' this statement made by Superintendent Burton, "The students that come from the city jail 0 and the granary have been blended into one united studentbody." Mr. Foy also said a yearbook was ) printed in 1913-14 from the Bountiful y-High y-High School. It was called "Thev Eagle." The Kaysville-Laytonj Historical Society researchers s would like to find a copy of thisr yearbook so they can compare itn with a yearbook printed in 1913-14 by the Central High School students 3 in Kaysville. 4 . ; Anyone having information that) will help with this interesting ; historical research pro ject should contact Kent Day at the Layton v Heritage Museum 546-3524 orf Doneta Gatherum at 7714976. , 7 |
