Show Local applicants sought for Young Musicians Summerfest at BYU Brighara Young University's . music faculty is planning a week- - . Jong music workshop for youthful artists this summer to help' them , reach higher levels of musicianship. " Known as Young . Musicians Summerfest, the workshop will take place July 17-22 on the BYU cam . pus. Participants in band, orchestra,' jazz, choir, and keyboard programs . will take part in a festive week of; chamber music, rehearsals,' music '.. literature classes, private or group" instruction, workshops oh careers in h music, and social activities. , i: " A Gnal concert for all participants partici-pants win cap the week. Student recitals re-citals will provide additional opportunities oppor-tunities for workshop attenders to perform solos or be in small ensembles. ensem-bles. Teaching them will be . the same professors who produce such acclaimed BYU ensembles as Concert Con-cert Choir, University Singers, Synthesis and the Philharmonic Orchestra.- . Participants of any race, color, , creed and ethnic or national origin and qualified handicapped persons will be accepted to the program provided they maintain the university universi-ty standards while on campus. This includes modesty in dress and conduct con-duct and abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, coffee,; tea and harmful - drugs.--"- - - :: A registration fee of $125 is required. re-quired. For those needing housing -and food, an additional $97 fee will be paid. Some participants will qualify for "exceptional talent partial par-tial tuition waivers" of $25 or $50. Those interested must send an audition Jape and letter of recom- ;'s mendation from a music teacher with the registration form. The tape should contain two contrasting solo performances. .
