Show LHS teacher invited to confab USU enables high school students to earn high school and college credit cre-dit during their senior year. By DONETA GATHERUM 1.AYTON Ms. Debbie Spiel-mater, Spiel-mater, Vocational-Agriculture teaiher at Lay ton High School, is one of 35 vo-ag teachers nation-widt nation-widt selected to attend a compre-hensve compre-hensve three day workshop to be held ruly 6 through July 8 in Des Moins, Iowa. Tht agronomy and biological techndogy workshop is sponsored by theNational FFA Foundation, Pionee Hi-Bred Seed Company and theNational Vo-Ag Teachers Associaion. It is designed to give practicalapplication of science to the teacbrs so they can pass the latest technology on to their students. stu-dents. Teachers will learn about tissue, cultures, plan improvements, new plant strains and changes in the vo-ag curriculum to make it more scientifically oriented. Ms. Spielmaker noted that with less acreage being used by agriculture, agricul-ture, it is essential for farmers to achieve a higher yield on less acreage. acre-age.
