By CHERIE HUBER Camp Hobe, a special camping experience for children with cancer can-cer and their brothers and sisters will be open for two sessions this summer, July 31-Aug. 3 and Aug. 3-6, so that the camp can accommodate accom-modate a growing number of children. chil-dren. Camp Hobe is co-sponsored by Primary Children's Medical Center, the American Cancer Society Soci-ety and the many special "Friends of Camp Hobe." This year Camp Hobe will be using us-ing the facilities of Camp Red Cliffe in Ogden Canyon. Tuition will be $10 per child and scholarships are available also. Patients must be be tween 6-14 years of age and within no more than one year of treatment. treat-ment. Siblings must also be between be-tween 6 and 14 years old. Patients and siblings 15-18 years old may apply as junior counselors. Camp Hobe is designed to help young cancer patients enjoy a camping outing free from the concerns con-cerns about their illness. The camp also gives them the opportunity to meet other children who are coping with cancer. Siblings are included to offer them an opportunity to meet other children who live with the stresses and uncertainties of living with a brother or sister who has cancer. Qualified medical personnel, in cluding oncology nurses and other health professionals, will be at the camp. Campers bring their own medications and instructions and an oncology nurse at the camp will administer the medications. Supervised activities are the prime focus of the camp. Sports include softball, volleyball, archery and other new games. There will be swimming under certified cer-tified lifeguard supervision and fishing, too. Arts and crafts including ceramics cera-mics and other nature crafts will be included in the activities with special spe-cial teen activities.
