Show Ute tankers stoked for tenth stroke title only eight of his 23 entries have experienced the pressures of a championship meet. One thing that makes this championship meet unique is the fact that for the first time swimmers had to meet qualifying times for entry. In past years, each school was limited to 18 contestants. Utah has qualified 22 swimmers for this year's meet. University swimming dominance over the Western Athletic Conference is comparable to that of UCLA's dominance in Pac-8 basketball. It is their tenth straight WAC title they will be after this week as they travel to Colorado State University in Fort Collins for the league's three-day championship meet. Ute tankers have captured every WAC swimming title ever, and as always are favored in this year's competition. Brigham Young, Colorado State and New Mexico swimmers are as anxious to grab the WAC title as the Utes are and should put Utah to the test. In fact, the scoring should be so close that the non-contenders could very well determine the eventual outcome by winning or placing high in selected events. Redskins should shine in the butterfly and breastroke events, but the intermediate freestyle contests may give them a few worries.
