By REX NUTTING Chronicle Staff "The library is for the users and not for the librarians," said Dr. Stan Ward in a confrontation between Dr. Brigham Madsen, director of the University Libraries, and students and faculty of the Department of Geology. A feud between the College of Mines and the library has developed in the last several months. One of major resources for geology students, the Bibliography of North American Geology, was moved from the science and engineering section on the first floor in the library to the document section where the periodicals and other documents are kept. "I think we'll shift it," conceded Dr. Madsen. The professional staff in the library is 25-1 against moving the Bibliography back to the science section. The convenience con-venience of the users won out over the convenience of the librarians this time. Dr. Madsen also reminded the audience of about 50 that the library was putting the science and engineering card catalog on the first floor, while the other |
