Show Council funds BSU show The ASUU Executive Council appropriated $480 to the Black Student Union Thursday for the ' purpose of holding a Black Fash-1 Fash-1 ion Show to raise scholarship , funds. The BSU Motion, previously initiated by Jim Davis, Union Board Chairman, in a summer Exec. Council meeting, was then officialized by a 12-3 Council vote. Doug Richard, Finance Board member, first raised the question as to the legitimacy of funding one organization and not another, iflichards stated that $1500 has been set aside in the "Out Reach" fund for the minority scholar-ihips, scholar-ihips, of which the Black popula-aon popula-aon received $500. He said that 5SU has been denied additional noney in the past and therefore hpuld not be alloted the requested re-quested funds now. Dave Partenheimer, ASUU vice president, stated that the Black i 'ashion Show is a relevent lultural event which will benefit Veryone on campus, and should berefore be financed by ASUU. |
