The robber entered Love Jewelry Store Saturday and took $550. However, as he was demanding de-manding some jewelry the owner of the store drew a pistol and shot the bandit twice from under the counter. The robber fled into the street. Brady was traveling down 2nd South just west of 2nd and Main Street when he "saw a man running across the street." "I thought there had been a car accident," said Brady, "there was blood all over his face. Then he held his hand out like a European policeman." Brady stopped, and the man put his hand on the car, went around to the door, and pulled a gun out of his pocket. "He said 'scoot over, )al' so I scooted over," said Brady. "It struck me as funny-that this could really be happening." The bandit took over the wheel and drove along 2nd South. "He was going 50 or 60 miles an hour," recalled Brady. "I told him to be careful, because the car was out of alignment." After the car had gone two or three blocks, the bandit pulled over. "He told me that he was going to pull over and let me out. He said "I want you to get out really fast. I don't want to have to kill you." I thought he had committed com-mitted a murder downtown, so I got out really fast." . "After I got out of the car," Brady continued, "I told him to be careful. I was really concerned about the car. I just stood and waited, because I knew that the police would be there soon." Soon the police came by and Brady waved them down. The next hour and a half were spent looking for the car, which was found in Liberty Park. Don Brady, kidnapped Saturday by a jewelry store thief, was concerned about his safety and also the car's-it car's-it belonged to Union Program Council Chairman, Tina Ellsworth. |
