Show Ute paddlers travel to New Mexico After the New Mexico junket the Utes will invade the Pacific Northwest on Feb. 13 and 14 where they will meet the University of Oregon and the University of Washington. Utah paddlers will travel to the sunny land of New Mexico for two dual meets this weekend. On Friday the Utes will meet conference confer-ence rival New Mexico in Albuquerque. Albu-querque. On Saturday they will compete against two non-conference schools, New Mexico State and University of Texas at Arlington, Arling-ton, at Las Cruces. The Utes, at 5-2, are favored to defeat New Mexico. The Lobos placed fifth in the Western Athletic Ath-letic Conference Championship meet last year, however the addition addi-tion of new personnel has Strength, ened them somewhat. Coach Don Reddish's swimmers will have their hands full on Saturday Sat-urday in the double dual meet. Competing for the Texas school will be one of the nation's top swimmers, Doug RuSsel. He holds the national record in the 100 yard butterfly and was a medalist medal-ist in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. |
