Show Businessman Opposes Rubin Jim Steel, local businessman, voiced what he feels is the opinion opin-ion of most downtown businessmen business-men Thursday by opposing Jerry Rubin's visit to the University Sunday. "We knew what he's going to advocate, and we knew what he's going to talk about," Mi-. Steel explained. "I don't think it can benefit anyone." Mr. Steel, a University alumnus, alum-nus, exp:ained that while he has been recruiting for voluntary University Uni-versity funds from downtown businessmen, busi-nessmen, many have been hesitant hesi-tant to contribute because cf what he feels is the more liberal reputation repu-tation which the University is acquiring. "If the University continues to bring in someone like this and then asks us for funds, it's hard for the downtown businessmen to support them," ho emphasized. "It was tough enough to solicit funds last year." Mr. Steel indicated that t h e main goal of the University should be to better the individual and added, "We don't feel that any good is going to come from the visit. We don't want anything to do with it." |
