Show Tell it to Hanoi says Bennett Instigators of the Vietnam Moratorium should aim their nation-wide day of protest at "telling it to Hanoi" instead of telling it to Washington, Sen. Wallace F. Bennett, R-Utah, declared in a Senate speech Oct. 15. "The essence of the so-called moratorium is a demand that all American troops be withdrawn from Vietnam immediately. If one will simply think about the situation, he must realize that a withdrawal must be orderly and phased over a period of time to allow the South Vietnamese government to take up the slack," Sen. Bennett said. The Utah Senator went on to say, "I am astounded that these protestors have their sense of direction and values s'o fouled up. If they are so interested in terminating the war, why don't they have the fortitude to send a protest to Hanoi; tell the Communists in North Vietnam to make some concessions. It is time moratorium participants realize the very real damage they are doing to the peace effort, and have the courage to "tell it to Hanoi." |
