Show Excellence should bell's goal "Developing excellence should be the general goal of all disciplines at the University," was the advice given by President James C. Fletcher to faculty members in a meeting Wednesday in the west Union Ballroom at 3:15 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was for new mem-rs mem-rs to get to know one another and get the feel I what campus is. President Fletcher said we need to encourage People from out of state to come here by making e University attractive to them. "We have a ngenial environment," he stated and pointed out that our money is no more limited here than in other states, that we just have a smaUer population popula-tion trying to support not only two four year col-leges, col-leges, but also two jr. colleges and two trade schools. "But we need quality as well as quantity," quanti-ty," he said and our state leaders back this up. President Fletcher mentioned that at the present, pres-ent, the University has enough land, but posed the problem of the future of where to build buildings and that the University should set up real purposes and techniques for rapid changes. "We should not be driven by society but by our own goals and purposes." |
