Show Enrollment reaches new high The University's enrollment struck an all time high, the Office of Institutional Studies announced this week. -nCT'ng ' ",Cir report' the University's enrollment reached ;u,d students. This includes day and evening credit-taking students. The new fall quarter enrollment exceeds the enrollment estimates upon which this year's budget was based by 413 sample students. There has been an increase of 1,413 students over the last year said Dr. Claude W. Grant, director of the Office of Institutional Studies! The enrollment figure does not include the students now under the Division of Continuing Education who are enrolled in Childrens' Education, Edu-cation, Adult Education, Technological Institute and Secretarial Training Train-ing programs. The daytime enrollment includes 5,003 freshmen, the largest class. There are 3,337 sophomores. The junior class numbers 2.69G. There are 2.633 seniors. Also, there are 3.331 graduate students registered. This total count includes 30 visitors and six non-classified students. Fall quarter's roll includes a carry over of 11.2G0 students whe were attending the University last spring. It also includes 1,422 re-admissions re-admissions and 1.3S3 transfers from other schools. The daytime enrollment for students who are residents of Utah increased 1,033 students over last year. Non-resident daytime student enrollment climbed 261 more. The first quarter freshman class was up over last year by 154 students. This surpassed a projection of 166 which the University was expected to gain. |
