She will reign over the "U" Days celebrations and will be the University entrant into the Miss Utah Pageant. The "U" Days Queen contest follows the Miss American Pageant Salt Lake City 1968 and 2nd runner up to Miss Utah. Gael Reese was studentbody president of her Carlisle, Pennsylvania high school, a WRA representative for Alpha Chi Omega, and winner of So. Western Music Guild Piano Auditions. Tuesday nights' pageant will feature Dan Tyler of KALL radio as emcee, David Reese on the organ, the Single Swingers and the University Men's Chorus. regulations including formal, talent, and bathing suit events. Though the greatest emphasis is on talent competition (50 per cent), there will be no disappointments in the beauty judging for all in attendance Tuesday evening. Preliminaries were held held last week left eight semi-finalists for May 20's pageant: Jana Blair is solo harpist with the University Symphony Orchestra, a Sterling Scholar in Music, Miss Teenage Utah 1966, and Singer Sewing Contest winner. Lindsay Bloom from Omaha, Nebraska is a Modern Dance major, Miss Omaha 1968 and 3rd runner up for Miss Nebraska. She will present a self-choreographed modern dance Tuesday. Brenda Briggs attended the BYU as a freshman on scholarship, a member of the Cougarettes and "Belle of the Y" finalist. Brenda will perform her arrangement of a piano medley. Margie Cox, a member on the University girls tennis team, won a scholarship in debate at the U and was "Miss Blue" for the world premier of the movie "Blue." Karen Hauge, a Modern Dance major, is a member of Ute-Tahna. She was the Civil Engineering Queen and will compete with an original dance on Tuesday's contest. Helen Leonard is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary, Spurs, Election Committee, and is a Ford Model. Her talent will be "Ballad of the Harp Weavers", a dramatic reading. Susan Nielson has danced in seven annual performances of the Nutcraker Ballet and is active in University dramatics. She is Miss |
