Show Bain Bashed As 'Racist' Editor : Bill Bain's racist letter of April is at once pathetic and confused, but deserves a brief reply. In the first portion it displays ignorance of the companion element to non-violence which was essential to Dr. King's program: confrontation. confronta-tion. Without confrontation of society's evils non-violence has no meaning. Mr. Bain then attempts to "share the blame" for violence by pointing point-ing out the obvious: if only the black man would keep quiet, we would have peace and tranquility. He gees on in the second half of his letter to link our fear of the black man with cur paranoid concern over communism. He shows no awareness that the enly way communism can take over our country is through his form of racism and suppression. Through innuendo Mr. Bain calls Dr. King either a communist or a dupe. And he doesn't even have the guts to say it out straight. George R. Edison, M.D. |
