Show Nagoyans End U Visit weary but ever enthusiastic on our campus Wednesday evening. SATURDAY THEY spent the day as guests of the summer school committee at Lagoon. Sunday they Were guests of Dr. Jarvis, Dean of the Summer School, at an organ recital at the Tabernacle and later By LINDA HAGMAN Two station-wagon loads of determined de-termined Japanese men with a brilliant bril-liant curiosity to learn, have now completed their United States tour and will soon be on their way home to Nagoya. . Making the U. of U. their home base, the 11 men left here July 15 in' two station wagons driven by University employees. Their first stops included Laramie, Wyoming and Lincoln, Nebraska. In Chicago they attended the University of Chicago and in Detroit, the automobile auto-mobile assembly plants. THEY THEN traveled up into Canada and came back into New York, saw Niagara Falls and later Rhode Island. While in Boston they attended Harvard University and in Washington, D.C., George Washington University. After a tour of the White House, they saw the oil and gas operation at Penn-zoil Penn-zoil in West Virginia. They briefly attended the University of Louisville Louis-ville in Louisville, Kentucky and the University of Missour. in Columbia, Missouri. Headed back to Salt Lake City they stopped in Kansas and hen visited the University, of Colorado in Boulder. They arrived a little for a breakfast at the Hotel Utah. That afternoon the Nagoyans invited in-vited the students and faculty involved with their stay here at the University to be their guests at Van Cott Hall for their "At Home Program" a talented presentation of their own Japanese culture. YESTERDAY THEY visited the governor at the state capital, and attended classes on our campus. Today a debriefing of their entire en-tire tour will take place at a luncheon lunch-eon held in the cafeteria. This is open to any interested persons. This afternoon in President Fletcher's Fletch-er's office they will receive their Presentation of Certificates for their completion of the study tour. Wednesday morning they will leave Salt Lake for Los Angeles and after spending a day there, will be on their way back to Haneda. Japan and then to Nagoya. |
