Show Mrs. Swindlehurst Observes 85th Birthday-Mrs. Birthday-Mrs. Sarah Swindlehurst was honored by friends and relatives rela-tives when she observed her 85ih birth anniversary with an open house at the home of her son, Arnold Swindlehurst, last . Monday. Scores of neighbors stopped in to wish her a happy anniverr-ary. and enjoy chatting with Mrs. Swindlehurst and refreshments re-freshments served by hostesses Mrs. Nina Bingham, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen and Mrs. Lillian Anderson. An-derson. Mr?. Swindlehurst was "born in Beaver, Oct. 15, 1871, a daughter of David E. and Eliza Limb Low. Mrs. Low crossed the plains in 1828, at the age of 15, -settling first in Salt Lake City and later moving to Beaver. Beav-er. On March 20, 1888, Sarah Low married Thomas Swindle hurst, and in 1907 they moved to Battle Mountain, Nev. Mr. Swindlehurst died in 1928, and three years ago Mrs. Swindlehurst Swindle-hurst moved to Milford to make her home with her son. At S5 she i still an active housfk?r;per, caring for her son's household. She is an excellent ex-cellent cook, and is noted locally local-ly as a sreaious hostess when she entertains. Mrs. Swinctlehurst is a member mem-ber of the LDS Church; past noble grand of the Battle Mountain Moun-tain -Rebekah lodge and past grand chaplain of the Nevada Rebekah Assembly. She is the oldest, and most recent, member mem-ber of Horn Sliver Camp, DUP. Five of her eight children j who are still living are Arnold I Swindlehurst, Milford; Ray Swindlehurst, Hollister, Calif.; I Mrs. Katie McDonell, Sparks, Nev.; Mrs. Julia Madsen, Kingman, King-man, Ariz., and Earl Swindle- ! I hurst, Nevada. j She also, has 21 grandchil- ' dren, 34 g;r at-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Attending the open house from Beaver were Mrs. Lucille 1 Strong, Mrs. Phyllis S. Warr, Mrs. Effie S. White, Mrs. Ida Riley, Mrs. Isabel Muir, and Mrs. Martha Dean Pake, Mrs. Swindlehurst was also honored at the meeting of the j Milford First Ward Relief So- : I ciety last week. j |
