Show miiM TU TDillW with Pat Williams SOCIETY AND CLUB NEWS FROM ALL OF BEAVER COUNTY THE SPECIAL INTEREST group of Beaver Stake MIA sponsored a dance and social, Friday night of last week, in the Beaver First-Third ward recreation hall. Mrs. Beulah Karii.-;wortii airected the enjoyable enjoy-able affair, called the Ii. nters' F;;j11. The hall was beautifully decorated dec-orated in harvest colors, with autumn leaves and drawings of deer. Dancing was enjoyed, and an interesting program included songs by the Memory Moms quartet, a reading by Mary Low, music by the Beeson orchestra, or-chestra, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bcson, ValGene Beeson, Jo-ann Jo-ann Manzione and Lydia Smith, and two numbers by a couple from California. The program was followed by refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Frandsen and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hol-linger Hol-linger of Dragerton, sisters and brothers in law of Mrs. Dave Coleman, are expected in Mil-ford Mil-ford for the deer hunt. , MR. AND MRS. MARION VINCENT of Miiford had a very J enjoyable visit., and reunion wilh their family the first two weeks of October. The Vincent 1 i'amily is one of the oldest in Mili'oi'd, coming here in 19U7. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Francis, daughter Beverly and her new baby girl. Malanie Jane, of Hobbs, New Ilex.; a son, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Vincent; brother, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Vincent of Salt Lake; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Winans of Hollywood, Calif., and a maternal aunt, Mrs. W. A. Moore of Salt Lake. Malanie Jane is the first baby born in the Vincent family in 28 years. Namsd to CSU Staff Jennie Sue Smith, student at the CSU in Cedar City, has been appointed to the College yearbook staff, and is employed at the college bookstore. Jennie Jen-nie Sue reports that she likes her work at the CSU, and is enjoying en-joying her studies. THE EIGHTIETH birth anniversary an-niversary of Mary Johnson, affectionately af-fectionately known as "Granny Johnson" by her nine greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, was celebrated Saturday and Sunday at the home of LaMar nd Axdath Out-zen Out-zen in Miiford. A family dinner was held Saturday, Sat-urday, with place laid for 36 members of the family. This was followed by an open house Sunday, with crowds of friends calling during the day. Out of town relatives and friends who added to the pleasure pleas-ure of the day were Mrs. Willis Vhitbeck and daughter Belva, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Breeze and Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Mor-rell Mor-rell Debra and Russell; Mr. jnd Mrs. Richard Johnson, Karen, Tony, Mark, Bryan and Christine, all of Salt Lake; sisters sis-ters Mrs. Olive Hansen, Rich-.ield; Rich-.ield; Mrs. Cena Larson and Joyce, Fillmore; Mrs. William Fernley, Caliente; Mrs. George Moore, Orem. Mrs. Johnson received long distance calls from her daughter daugh-ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Sanford, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton George and John, Albany,- Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Geumlek, Fort Collins, Colo. During t'.ie afternoon Mrs. i Vivian Rollins sang two appro-p.r'ate appro-p.r'ate vocal f.olos. THE AMERICAN LEGION Auxiliary held their regular meeting on Friday, Oct. 12, in Beaver. Discussion centered around the deer hunter dance and the prizes to be awarded, and a Halloween dance to be held Oct. 30 in the Legion Hall. Agnes Whornham was named chairman of a committee to promote sale of U S Savings Stamps in the schools. A BUNDLE SHOWER at the home of Mrs. Jasper Walker on Friday, Oct. 12, honored Mrs. Walker's niece, Mrs. Clark Bradshaw. Refreshments were served to 45 ladies by the hostess, host-ess, Mrs. Victor Littlefield. Bunco was played, with the prizes being won by Mrs. Marie Willisen, Mrs. Jetta Jessop, La-vern La-vern Bradshaw and LaVee Harris. Har-ris. MARGARET ROOT and Gale Edwards attended the annual Girls State Alumni luncheon Friday, Oct. 12, in the Crystal Room at the Newhouse Hotel hi Sale Lake. More than 200 girls, largest group ever to attend the gala affair, heard talks from the two Utah Girls State Senators who represented Utah at Girls Nation Na-tion in Washnigton, D. C., last summer. PRESIDENT JERRY KJ.RK conducted the regular business 1 meeting of the American. Le-I Le-I gion Auxiliary Monday, Oct. 15, in St. Bridget's recreation hall. Lillian Anderson reported that a first aid course will begin in November, at regular Auxiliary Auxil-iary meetings, with Miss So-phronia So-phronia Hawley as instructor. Action on a proposal to sponsor spon-sor sale of U S Defense Stamps in the elementary school was postponed until the November meeting. Mary Long, the membership chairman, reported that Mil-ford Mil-ford was the second unit in the state to reach their membership quota for 1957. Hostesses for the evening were President Kirk and Mrs. Long. Refreshments were served to Mrs. Naomi Hughes, Mrs. Lillian Anderson, Mrs. Laura Lorentz, Mrs. Magdalena White, Mrs. Ida Smith, Mrs. Katherine Whittaker and Mrs. Dorothy Grimshaw. i |
