Show Beaver County First To Mail Ballots Beaver County was probably the first county in the state to start their absent voter ballots winging by airmail to overseas servicemen, out of the state registered voters, and by regular regu-lar mail to local voters who had applied for the absent voter ballots. All applications received re-ceived to date have been processed pro-cessed and the ballots mailed, according to C. Victor Smith, Beaver county clerk. "We received the certification certifica-tion from the secretary of state Tuesday morning," Mr. Smith said, "and by Tuesday noon we had most of the ballots ready for the mail. By working with our local printer, we had the ballots all set up and ready to print, with the reverse side printed, and as soon as the certification cer-tification came 'from Salt Lake, the voting side was printed and we mailed them immediately. "I don't know if there'll be time for all of them to be returned re-turned before election day, but we're sending the out-of-state ones airmail, and keeping our fingers crossed." i About 100 applications have been received to date, the county coun-ty clerk said, including a dozen from military personnel. |
