Show BEAT THE" FALL CHILL WITH NEW QUICK TAMALE PIE r ;l, - t - With coming of the Fall Season and us brisk weather whetting those summer-dulled appetites, you'll be preparing more hearty and tasty main dishes for your family, and when the gang drops in for an after-the-game supper you'll want something spicy and easy to make. A Western favorite that meets the requirements is tamale pie. But best of all, here is a brand new Quick Tamale Pie, developed by Albers Home Economists, that has just two ingredients instead of the usual dozen ! . M. This is all you have to do to make delicious Quick Tamale Pie: QUICK TAMALE PIE MAKES 4 SERVINGS) CORN MEAL CRUST TAMALE PIE FILLING 5 cups water 4 cups chili con 2 teaspoons salt carno with beans 2 cups Albers Corn Meal, (two 1 lb. cans) White or Yellow Combine cold water, salt, and Albers Corn Meal in saucepan over medium heat. Cook until thickened (about 7 to 10 minutes), stirring constantly. Line sides and bottom of 2-quart buttered casserole with corn meal crust mixture. Save Vi of mixture for top crust. Bake casserole casser-ole in hot oven (400 F.) about 20 minutes to give a crisp crust. Remove from oen. Add chili con carne. Top with sliced ripe olives and green pepper strips or pimento, if desired. Spread remaining crust mixture around edge. Bake in hot oven (400 F.) about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve hot with mixed green salad. For variety, use one can chili con carne and one cm chili con carne with beans; or add cooked ground beef to above recip" |
