He took one look at her and said, "She is to be my wife." He sought an introduction and after a short courtship they were married on April 4, 1867. This couple was blessed with Grimshaw Family Holds Beaver Reunion By Mrs. May G. Jensen In February, 1858, just two years after the first settlers came to Beaver, there arrived the Moyes family, converts to the L D S Church from Aus tralia. They came to join the new settlers and to establish a home in this new territory. The Moyes family consisted of the father, mother, and seven children. chil-dren. Among the children was a little 8-year-old girl by Lhe name of Mary Jane. Seven years later the Grimshaw Grim-shaw family, converts from 13 children, eight boys and five girls. Their posterity now numbers num-bers 375 or more. Saturday, June 2nd, members of this Grimshaw family gathered gath-ered at the park in Beaver, where greetings and visiting and getting acquainted was the order of the day. At 5 p. rh. 150 sat down at long tables laden with good things to eat. At 7:30 they went across the street to the chapel, where they enjoyed a program of music, singing, and expressions expres-sions of love and appreciation for their heritage, especially for their wonderful parents and grandparents who had made their lives possible in this great land of freedom and opportunity. opportun-ity. Family reunions have been a custom off this family in the years gone by, but this was the first reunion since the mother departed this life 22 years ago. At its conclusion all agreed it had been wonderful to be to. gether and all are looking forward for-ward to a repeat performance next year. About midnight Nettie Roger-son Roger-son Gale and Bonita Rogerson Hardy departed for their homes in Burbank, Calif. Others returned re-turned to their homes in Mil-ford Mil-ford and Cedar City, while some remained to attend Sunday School and church on Sundaj. Seven of the nine living sons and daughters of Duckworth and Mary Jane Grimshaw were in attendance at this reunion. They are William H. Grimshaw and George W. Grimshaw of Cedar City, Ray Grimshaw of Summit, Mary G. Rogerson, Martha Jane G. Rogerson, Ida G. Ehninger and May G. Jensen of Salt Lake City. Arnold Grimshaw Grim-shaw of Carmel, Calif., and Elizabeth G. Fotheringham of Monterrey, Calif., were unable to attend because of illness. |
