Show BEAVER COUNTY 4-H CLUB NEWS nutty Needles " " t . By Maureen Erickson The first meeting of the i Nutty Needles 4-H Club was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of their leader, Dorothy Swainston. The club is taking second, third and fourth year sewing. The following officers were elected: Judy Willden, president; presi-dent; Jeanie Smith, vice president; presi-dent; Blanch Yardley, secretary; secre-tary; Vickie Griffiths, treasurer; Maureen Erickson, reporter; Jilene Smith, song leader, and Linda Carter, social leader. Our next meeting will be at Blanch Yardley's home. Refreshments Re-freshments were served to six of the seven members. BEAVER CO. CUT-UPS By Judy Murdock On Monday evening at 7.30 p. m. the Beaver County Cut-Ups Cut-Ups 4-H Club will hold their membership meeting. We would like to have any girls who have ever taken 4-H before, who are between the ages of 14 and 21, come out and join us. We have many plans for a lot of fun, but we want those who will really cooperate. Our sole project is recreation j leadership. If you don't live in either of the two larger communities, send a card to Judy Murdock. Danny Smith is home from the U S A C, where he has just completed his junior year. He will be employed during the summer at the Standard Stations. Sta-tions. Lamont Thornock, president of the Beaver County Education Association, left Wednesday for Brighton to attend a three-day local presidents' school sponsored spon-sored by the Utah Education Association. As-sociation. Mrs. Linda Munford visited in Ely, Nev., at the home of Mr and Mrs Jasper Puffer. Clark Prince has accepted employment em-ployment in McGill, Nev., and his wife Linda and son Clark recently spent several days with him in the Nevada city. o Beverly Farrer and family are visiting in Logan for the next month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Ewing. She will return home with Rondo i after the National Guard Encampment. (Starting next week, all 4-H ! Club reports will be published in both The Beaver Press and The Milford News. Toward thj close of the 4-H summer work season, clip sheets will be mailed lo State 4-H officials, offi-cials, and the club reporter who, in the opinion of the judges, has shown the most improvement in hjr reporting and writing will receive a. $5 bill from Beaver County Newspapers. All 4-H Club reports must be turnsd in by Tuesday evening. Others will be held for publication the following week.) BUSY BEAVERS By Colleen Firmage The Busy Beavers 4-H Club met at the home of their leader, Judy Murdock, Monday morning. morn-ing. Other leaders are Arlene Morgan and Janet Frazier. They made plans for the year and elected new officers: Sue Farrer, president; Patsy Griffiths, Grif-fiths, vice . president; Jenny Stapley, secretary and treasurer; treas-urer; Virginia Murdock, camp chairman. Other members are Margaret Parkinson, Carola Carter, Mad-yline Mad-yline Black, Judy Hamilton and Annette Whetten. refreshments were served to seven of the members. The next meeting will be held at the ' home of Colleen Firmage. PRESTO COOKERS By ANNA HUTCHINGS and TONI LYNN KIZER The Presto Cookers met at the home of Gayle Gale on Wednesday, May 23. Nine members mem-bers were present, and one was excused. We made plans for buildnig a float for the 49er parade. Wednesday, June 6th, we met at the home of our assistant leader, Arlene Paice. We learned how to prepare" fruit for breakfast. We also worked on our record books. KITCHEN QUEENS By DIXIE LEE The Kitchen Queens 4-H Club led by Jennie Sue Smith and JoAnn Mayer met at the home of Miss Smith on Thursday, May 24th. The girls made grapefruit flowers, orange 'flowers, 'flow-ers, and glazed apples. Members and officers of the club are Judy Paice, president; Judith Cook, vice president; Emma Jo Bown, sec.-treas.; Marsha Smith, song leader; Linda . Sherwood, party chairman: chair-man: Louise Gillins, camp chairman. chair-man. We have four new club members, three from town and one from South Milford. New members are Joann Couch of Copuille, Ore.; Emma Jo Bown, Bernice Thompson, and Pamela Edwards. HAPPY STITCHERS By MARILYN MOORE May 3rd the Happy Stitchers Club met for their first meeting, meet-ing, at Mrs. Moore's home. The club has three new members: Susan McCulley, Sammy Bel-lisotn Bel-lisotn and Joyce Brinkman. Officers elected were: Susan McCulley, president; Sammy Belliston, vice president; Betty Bills, secretary; Marie Barton, camp manager, Marilyn Moore, reporter. We agreed that dues shall be 25c each week. The officers discussed their, duties and what could be expected of them, and we also choose articles to make during the summer. Cookies and punch were served. On June 1st the club met at the home of Mrs. Moore, with four members present and two excused. Mrs. Roma Carlton and daughter Mavanee were visitors vis-itors from Provo. Record books and slips were given out. Each member will bring the slip for discussion, and talks were assigned.
