Show THE MUSIC LOVERS of Milford were given a real treat Monday evening when the Methodist Church presented Claudo Myers, saxophone soloist, solo-ist, and Fonda Magill, accompanist, accom-panist, in a benefit concert performance. per-formance. Every scat was sold out days before the event, and an appreciative audience greeted greet-ed the local musicians. Promptly at 8 o'clock Mrs. Lillian Nelson gave a word of welcome to the friends who had assembled and introduced Sen. Carlyle Gronning as master of ceremonies. Under his clever management the musicians were introduced and given a warm reception. The program consisted of selections of classical, clas-sical, semi-cla.l;icals, modern jazz and saxophone novelties. Mr. Myers is recognized as a master of his instrument and carried his audience with him during the entire evening. Mrs. Mag-ill is an accomplished accomp-lished pianist and her work at the piano was a fitting complement comple-ment to the saxophone. They generously responded to rounds of applause and gave two extra numbers. The young ladies' vocal trio of Minersville gave two numbers num-bers during the intermission, and they were well received. Young Harvey Campbell contributed con-tributed a good laugh by a humorous sketch on modern football. At the close of the concert everyone was invited out to the pl.asant dining- room for light refreshments, and enjoyed an hour o'f good fellowship over a cup of hot coffee or a glass of cool punch and cookies. The Little- Church on the Corner was proud to be the official hostess for such a fine evening with its friends, and plans to do it again sometime soon. |
