Show MRS. STELLA PERSONS was hostess for her bridge club last Friday evening. Players included Mrs. Hazel Baxter, Miis. Flossie Kickcrsnn, Mrs. Lena Morris and Mrs. Theresa I'ilehTorlli. Mrs. Persons served anuel : food cake with lemon filling . and whipped cream lopping, and coffee. THE FIRST CONVENTION of the F,psilon Sinm Alpha sorority for the State of Utah was held in Salt Lake City May 20 and 21, at the Deseret Inn Motel. Six chapters from Salt Lake, Otfden, Lotfan and Milford were represented by approximately 40 jjirls, and 10 attending from Wyoming. Selma Kirk, Garnet Garfield and Rosemary Davie represented represent-ed the Alpha Delta chapter of Milford. Selma Kirk was elected president pres-ident of the Stale Council of Utah; LaRue Varley of Salt Lake but formerly of Milford, vice president, and Garnet Garfield, Gar-field, corresponding secretary. Mrs. Kirk will attend the international in-ternational Convention' of the I C Council, to be held in Wichita. Wich-ita. Kan., June 16-19. THE SEVENTH GRADERS square danced, danced mixers and had a yood time at the high school gym on May 12th. Mrs. Florence Heard and Mrs. Mary McCulley sponsored the dance, . with the following mothers furnishing fur-nishing the refreshments: Virginia Vir-ginia Gillius, Ida Hardy, Lois Moore, Pat Williams, Florence Beard, Almeda Holbrook and Mary McCulley. Mitch and Beth Fisher donated donat-ed their time and music. Miss Cook, the seventh grade advisor, advis-or, helped with the dancing. During the evening sandwiches, sand-wiches, potato chips, pop and spud-nuts were s,erved. Parents attending included Mr. and Mrs. Walt McCulley, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Rosslyn Eppich, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Sly, Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Beard. THE MIA MAIDS or the L D S Church held their annual an-nual Mia Rose Tieing ceremony last Tuesday evening at the church. Margaret Root and Marian Loflhouse were giadu aled from the Mia Maids to the Gleaner Girls. The program given by the Mia Maids was: Opening prayer pray-er by the leader, Mrs. Mildred Wilcock; Marian Lo'ftbouse acted act-ed as master of ceremonies; a pantomime was presented by Joyce Alger and Susan Williams; Wil-liams; reading, Georgia Belli Smith; tap dance, Colleen llut-chings llut-chings and Margaret Root. The Mia Maids sang "Be the Best of Whatever You Are"; Mrs. Phyllis Whittakcr presented the pins. A trio, Mrs. Bonnie Snel-son, Snel-son, Mrs. Ruth Lish and Mrs. I Kayo Berger sang "Oh Rose," accompanied by Mrs. Toni Uf-Xens.. Uf-Xens.. During the music the Mia Maids formed a bouquet and carried out the rose-lielng ceremony. Susan Williams, Colleen Hut-chings Hut-chings anil Joyce Alger received first-year Mia Maid awards and Marian Loflhouse and Margaret Root received second year Mia Maids awards. Closing prayer was by Margaret Turner. Other guests included Beatrice Beat-rice Oxley, president of the Second Ward M I A; Charles Terry of the Second Ward bishopric, bish-opric, and Mrs. Terry; Mrs. John Loflhouse, Mrs. George Smith, Mrs. Lorin Hulchings, Mrs. Max Root, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Betty Hardy, Mrs Don Alger, Mrs. Lola Banks, and Kenee Norton. |
