Show MAYOR KIZER TALKS AT SCHOOL Mayor Ray L. Kizer was the feature speaker at a special sixth grade program on "Good Citizenship" at the Elementary school Monday,' Feb. 7th. Both sections of the sixth grade joined in the program as one of the events in the special citizenship cit-izenship program being carried on in the Milford Elementary school during February. "Our citizenship training begins be-gins in the home," the mayor stated. "We begin to form habits, to have things impressed' upon our minds when we are I very young. Later the church and the school begin to contribute contrib-ute to our ideals and ideas of good citizenship. "Schools, homes, and communities com-munities give us our basic ideals of good citizenship. Their teachings teach-ings shape our characters and lay the foundation for good citizenship," Mayor Kizer emphasized. em-phasized. He asked all pupils to repeat after him a pledge he had written: writ-ten: "We will never knowingly do anything that will bring! grief or disgrace to our com-' munily, our family, or our nation." na-tion." Following the talk by Mayor Kizer, Mr. Oldroyd and Mr. Harvey made comments on several sev-eral points brought out in the meeting. Several pupils in Mr. Harvey's class read some of the letters they had received from prominent people throughout the United States in their Good Citi2enship project. I While at the school Mayor' Kizer had an opportunity to see what the school is doing to emphasize good citizenship, and he was inspired to issue his proclamation designating February Feb-ruary as "Good Citizenship Month" in Milford. |
