Show LOCAL MARCH OF DIMES CAMPAIGN COLLECTS $799 A total of $799.29 was contributed con-tributed in Milford to the March iof Dimes campaign, it was announced an-nounced this week by Warren Johnson, city chairman. Operating Oper-ating without a definite quota but with a "goal" of $750, the local workers went over the top and collected more dimes than they were requested to raise. Most successful of the various vari-ous money-raising activities was the "Mothers' March," which netted $392.09 and is an average aver-age of $1 per call. In charge of the Marching Mothers was Mrs. Eva Stonehocker, who or- ganized the volunteers and assigned as-signed 24 young mothers and business women to canvass I small sections of the town, j Marching collectors were Cleo Labrum, Marjory Thomp-j Thomp-j son, LaRee Hollis, Joyce Coon, I Idona Coleman, Patsy Stewart, I Barbara Thompson, Shirleen ! Barnes, Beatrice Spainhower, Pat Kesler, Nadine Aaland, Norma Reese, Barbara Mayer, Maxine Bohart, Kathryn Alien, Irene Posey, Sybil Walker, Velma Thomas, Almeda HoL-brook, HoL-brook, Marie U'Ren, LaRue Gallagher, Nelda Memmott, 1 Lottie Gronning, Maudll Crane I and lone Roberts. I Other March of Dimes activi- ties and receipts were: ! Business house collections $80.15; Elemetary school (246 students contributing), $97.10; High school, 81 students, $58.55; "Dime Cans," $93.53, and basketball bas-ketball game donations, $43.87. Donations at the Birhtday Ball amounted to $34. Other county collections: Greenville," $21.26. ! Minersville $115.51. Of the total amount collected, one-half remains in Milford to be used in any polio cases where financial assistance is needed, and the other half is sent to national headquarters , and spent for relief of epidem- ics and research. |
