Show 0 Interest to Women THE BAZAAR AND CARI party glved by the V F W Auxiliary, Auxili-ary, November 29th at the Cath olic Church, was an outstanding social event. Over 55 guests were present. The many articles oJ handwork, cakes and pies donat ed by the members were disposed dis-posed of very readily and the rest of the evening was spent in playing bridge and pinocle, At bridge Mrs. Ann Lee, Mrs. Meta Weston and Mrs. Grace Jefferson won the prizes. Mrs, Audrey Skillicorn, Mrs. Lenna Stoker and Mrs. Barbara McGinn were lucky in pinochle. Hot mince pie and coffee were served. Mrs. Norma Walters, president, presi-dent, thanked the guests and '. members for their cooperation ; in making this, the second annual an-nual bazaar, a success. Mrs. Walters, Mrs. Susan Murdock, Mrs. Pauline Rummler and Mrs. Ethel Smith assisted throughout through-out the evening. THE FOLLOWING friends and relatives enjoyed Thanksgiv-ing Thanksgiv-ing dinner with the D. L. Kesler family: Mr. and Mrs. Gail P. Buffington and small daughter, and son Allen, Mr. Rip Thompson Thomp-son and a son-in-law and daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kersh and their children, of Salt Lake City. The Kersh's returned to their home Sunday. MR. AND MRS. JOSEPH D. MURDOCK spent the Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Murdock. Joe is a student at the University of Utah. A family dinner on Thanksgiving Day observed a double event as it was also the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Murdock. FAMILIES OF Mr. Henry R. Gillins gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Gillins to help him celebrate his 81st birthday birth-day anniversary on November 24th. A birthday dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Bingham and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Gillins and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jule Gillins and family of Minersville, and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Gillins and family. fam-ily. Mrs. Hattie Ashworth of Beaver Beav-er was a guest of her son and1 daughter-in-law on Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing Day. Mrs. William Ashworth and children, Cheri and Monte, were in Salt Lake one day last week. two guests Monday evening. Mrs. Margaret Lyman, Mrs. Verna Tomsik and Mrs. Dee Ferguson received the prizes at Cards. Other members present were: Mrs. Lillian Atkin, Mrs. Luella Fisher, Mrs. Lucy Reese, Mrs. Dian McCulley, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Arnold and Mrs. Olive Young. The guests were Mrs. Mary McCulley and Mrs. Evelyn Brannon. Mrs. Easton served a spaghetti dinner after the game of cards. MR. AND MRS. R. W. JONES were honored with a family dinner din-ner "Turkey Day," Thursday, November 25th, in observance of their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. anni-versary. Guests who enjoyed the sumptuous repast and the social gathering were Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Stoker, Mr. and Mrs Dan Stewart, Stew-art, Donald and DelRoy Jones, Gerald and Dean Stoker, Bonnie and Mona Stewart, Mrs. Maude Stoker, Bill Stoker, Miss Geral-dine Geral-dine Stoker and Mr. and Mrs Frank Jones. Officers for the coming year were elected at the Rebbecca regular monthly meeting Wednesday Wed-nesday night.. New officers elect ed were Mrs. Viola Carter, Noble Grand, Elvie Sedrick, vice grand, Mrs. Susan Glenn, secretary, the position she has filled for a number num-ber of years, and Lillian Anderson, Ander-son, treasurer. At their next regular reg-ular meeting in January, the officers will be installed. A GET TOGETHER home party was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Wood at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Anderson, Saturday evening. A card party was enjoyed by close friends of the Woods. Mrs. Anderson An-derson served tasty refreshments at midnight. Mr. and Mrs. Woods returned to their home in Los Angeles, Sunday. MR. AND MRS. J. R. MURDOCK, MUR-DOCK, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Outzen and Mr. and Mrs. Selar Hutchings attended a dinner and talk given by members of the Knife and Fork Club at Cedar City Tuesday Tues-day evening in the Hotel Escal-I ante banquet rooms. Principal -speaker was Dr. Gerald Wendt, editor of a science magazine, who gave an interesting talk on "The Horizon of Science." |
