Show OFFICE OF THE MAYOR CITY OF MILFORD It is a great pleasure, and a privilege, to join in saluting the press of the nation and our home-town newspaper. 1 The community newspaper is the most important asset a community can have. Thru its columns, the people of the community not only learn of the intimate comings and goings, the woes and calamities, joys and pleasures, of their neighbor, neigh-bor, but the outside world is given an idea of what the community com-munity is like, what it has to offer for the betterment of the world, and how it lives. In our local newspaper we meet each other, and have an opportunity to look deeper into the thoughts and actions of our neighbors; we learn to acquire greater love and confidence confi-dence in our friends, and get a closer insight into the viewpoint view-point of those with whom we are not so intimate. It is the business stationery on Which we address our message to other communities of the world the magic carpet car-pet upon which we glide into the homes of our friends the path on which we tread. It is our Main Street of thoughts, ideas and actions. It is our street of facts upon which we travel each week; the thoroughfare which carries the news of our community and nation into the world and into our home. It renders indispensable service to the homemaker, the worker, the businessman. It is the crossroads where customer cus-tomer meets merchant, learns his story and buys his goods. It is the leader in our home town, the champion of democracy democ-racy and the voice of the people; the inspiration of all civic drives and community endeavors. It Serves Freedom by Serving Us.
