Show P.-T. A. HAS FIRST SESSION OF THE YEAR First meeting of the current year for the Milford Parent-Teacher Parent-Teacher association was held in the High School auditorium last Monday night. The high school faculty was introduced by Principal W. Richard Nelson, and the grade school teachers were introduced by Principal Mitchell Fisher. Mr. Nelson was elected first vice-president, vice-president, taking the place of Mr. John Vloyantes, who did not return to Milford this year. Mr. Oral W. Evans was elected secretary-treasurer, replacing Mrs. Macel Horton, who has moved to Greenville. Highlight of the evening's business bus-iness session was a general discussion dis-cussion of ways and means of raising $375 to complete payment pay-ment for a grand piano for the auditorium, which was pur- chased last year. In the spring, the P.-T. A. agreed to pay $425 on a total of $850, which was the price of the piano, matching a like amount furnished by the school board. At that time $50 was taken from the P.-T. A. treasury and. $375 borrowed from a local citizen. The aim of the organization for this year is to raise the $375. At Monday's meeting it was decided to solicit contributions at the time of the membership drive , which will begin about October 10th. Membership dues will remain at 25c. The following musical numbers num-bers were given: Piano solo, Jeannette Gillins; vocal, Bonnie Munk, and a duet by Bonnie Baxter and Betty Sue Hickman, with Mrs. Lillian Anderson as accompanist. |
