Show Bids for final surfacing of M5 to be let Bids will be opened April 29 by the State Road Commission on construction of a bituminous surfaced roadway, signing and delineation, (striping and lane painting), and a double concrete con-crete box culvert extension on Interstate-15 between Spanish Fork and Provo. The notice to contractors specifiecs that the length of road to be improved is 8.35 miles in leneth and will require 120 working days (about five calendar months) to complete. The work will require 2989 tons of bituminous material, 30,000 tons of plant mix bituminous seal coat, and 50,000 gallons of rubber latex, according to the notice. The job involves the final surfacing of the stretch in question, and will result in a bituminous mat about 1 inches in-ches thick on top of the present pres-ent surface. The final surface is delayed at three years after the primary road base goes in, to allow for complete settling. Interest rates on U.S. Savings Sav-ings Bonds have been increased five times since the first Series Ser-ies E Bond was sold on May 1, 1S41. The current rate is 4.25 per cent, if held to maturity, and E Bonds bought today mature ma-ture in 7 years.
