Show Looking j Ahead fl g Dr. George S. Benson tk M President NATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM 1 Searcy. Arkansas . Virginia Graham, whose "Girl Talk" TV program is seen nationwide, na-tionwide, has accepted the key volunteer post of 196!) National Crusade Chairman of the American Amer-ican Cancer Society. Miss Graham's Gra-ham's personal victory over cancer motivated her many years of volunteer activity with the Society, culminating in her acceptance ac-ceptance of the Chairmanship, the first woman in ACS history to hold this volunteer position. THE WEALTH MACHINE Fortune Magazine, after a comprehensive survey and study, reports that 700,000 young Americans in colleges and universities from coast to coast now accepted the Communist Com-munist condemnation of American Ameri-can capitalism and wish to destroy de-stroy the system. Young campus cam-pus revolutionaries participating participat-ing in a conference at the Center for the Study of Democratic Demo-cratic Institutions (Santa Barbara, Bar-bara, California) boast that the Communist - manipulated "New Left" has captured student-body presidencies in more than half the institutions of higher learning. These two claims add up to a very serious problem. Many factors are involved in the growth of the student revolutionary revo-lutionary movement in America. Ameri-ca. One factor, of course, has been the infiltration of aggressive aggres-sive Marxist crusaders into faculties and classrooms of the American educational establishment. estab-lishment. Another factor has been the penetration and domination domi-nation by smart young hardcore hard-core Communists of college and high school organizations such as Students for a Democratic Demo-cratic Society (SDS), the Dubois Du-bois Clubs and other "New Left" Communist - controlled groups. Our Crusade But the most vital factor has been the absence of education on the American system. The radicals and revolutionaries cannot reach and seduce the minds of high school and college col-lege youngsters who have been taught the facts about our American system and its advantages ad-vantages over all forms of Socialism and Communism. This has been my personal crusade for more than 30 years to reach the youth of America Ameri-ca with the facts about our American heritage, the system built upon the unshakeable foundation of faith in God, disciplined and protected through constitutional government, govern-ment, producing its incomparable incompar-able volume of goods and services ser-vices economic well-being through private ownership of property and the competitive market "free enterprise" cTr "capitalism". With the various materials and services of our National Education Program, we have reached millions of young Americans and they are active today fighting the growth and advances of Socialism Social-ism and Communism. Yet the radical forces are more militant mili-tant and they are organized; they are favored with a "sympathetic" "sym-pathetic" climate in many educational edu-cational institutions, and they are working effectively on the inherent inclination of youth to resist authority, to rebel, to seek excitement. The radical forces both within faculties and student bodies are gaining gain-ing in numbers. Battle for Youth An amazing permissiveness for defiance of law and order has expanded throughout much of our educational establishment; establish-ment; has permitted is permitting per-mitting revolutionaries to gain stature and mobilize a destructive de-structive following. The Communist Com-munist plan is to use this developing de-veloping force, along with the revolutionary Black Power paramilitary "troops" to continue con-tinue creating widespread disruptions dis-ruptions in the American system, sys-tem, and finally, when ready for a decisive strike, to spearhead spear-head a violent takeover from within. The greatest armor for the youth of America with which to slow down and finally dissipate dis-sipate the school and campus revolutionary "movement" is a clear understanding of America's private ownership capitalism. For many, many years I have been telling the story of why our economic system sys-tem produces its vastly greater measure of wealth than other systems. Now I have been persuaded per-suaded by patrons of our National Na-tional Education Program to publish this story in a little pamphlet for widest possible distribution particularly to the vouth of America and the business busi-ness and industrial employees who have such a great stake in the continuing health and stability of our unique system. How is Wealth Created I have entitled the story: "The Wealth Machine". It is contained in a six-page pamphlet pamph-let that we are offering at printing cost, 10-cents each. To acquaint readers of our column and our NEP Monthly LETTER with content of "The Wealth Machine", we shall be devoting the next few columns to a brief outline of the five chapters of the little booklet. The booklet's preface asks and answers two questions that you might ask yourself, as a test of your own understand- ing: (1) What is Wealth? (2) How is Wealth Created? (Stop here and answer before reading read-ing on.) The answers: (1) Wealth is anything that has an exchangeable value. (2) Wealth is created through production of goods and services. To produce pro-duce and equitably distribute wealth for a community of people an economic system is required. The Socialist and Communist systems are run by the Government; American capitalism is in private hands and is, in effect, controlled by the consuming public. Next week: Freedom to Dream, one of five elements in the Wealth Machine. |
