Show Nebo School Board seeks new superintendent Vote is 3 to 1 Nebc School Board of Education at s special board meeting last Wednesday night, April 9, voted 3-1 to seek a new superintendent. The effective date ot July 1 was listed, being the date the present superintendent's contract will expire. The motion was made by Di . J. Robert Hogan, Pay-sen, Pay-sen, and seconded by Glenn W. Coffman, Springville, with Lynn Crook, Santaquin, voting in favoi and Dr. William Sorenson of Spanish Fork voting against the motion. mo-tion. The Nebo Board gave no official statement as to why the superintendent's contract con-tract was cancelled. Mi. Stansfield has held the position of superintendent superinten-dent in the Nebo School District foi the past nine years having been appointed in July of 1960. Previous to this he had been a professor in the school of business at the BYU foi 13 years and had taught school in Moroni, Springville, Spanish Fork and the LDS Business College Col-lege in Salt Lake City. who is presently serving as its president, did not vote. (The president only votes in case ol a tie). Dr. Sorenson made p vigorous defense of the present superintendent. Mi. Coffman stated in the special meeting that Superintendent Super-intendent Russell N. Stansfield Stans-field had been notified at the last board meeting that his contract would not be renewed. According to the clerK, LeRoy Whitehead Jr., no official action was taken tak-en at the previous board meeting. (Action was reportedly re-portedly taken in an executive execu-tive session, closed to the public. ) In the motion made by Dr. Hogan, he instructed the cistrict clerk to notify the three universities that a vacancy va-cancy in the superintendent's superinten-dent's job existed.
