Indoor tennis meet at BYU With the completion of the Brigham Young University in-ioor in-ioor tennis courts the First Annual BYU Indoor Tennis Classic will be held December 11-14, an an inauguarl event to officially open the indoor facilities according to Milton F. Hartvigsen, Dean of the BYU College of Physical Education. Invitations have been sent to some of the nation's outstanding outstand-ing amateur tennis players. Expected to participate in the tourney are number one singles players Roy Barth, UCLA; Zdravko Mincek, BYU and a Yugoslavian Davis Cup player; F. D. Robbins, Utah and a reserve USA Davis Cup player; Brian Cheney of Arizona Ari-zona and Tom Gorman of Seattle. Se-attle. The entire teams of BYU and Utah will be enterted on individual indi-vidual basis and some other outstanding Western Athletic Conference players may enter. Four standard size courts are available in the new tennis unit, however, only three courts will be used in the tourney in order to provide more seating space. The building is 120 feet wide and 240 feet long. Length-wise the building extends north and south, and the four courts extend ex-tend east and west. The highest apex of the arching barrcll I roof will be 40-feet high. |
