Show In Class W competition for mhkfnm Changes will be made in prep football and basketball tournaments in 1969-70 school year as a result of action taken ta-ken by the Utah High School Activities Association. Passed by a wide margin was the proposal to hold three state high school football and basketball tournaments. The proposal actually creates a much needed three classification classifica-tion of schools according to student body enrollment. All schools with over 900 students will remain in Class A, those with enrollments from 300-899 wiil be in Class B, and those under 300 will be Class C. In Region Four this means that the two large schools, Provo and Orem, will be aligned align-ed with the A schools and the other region schools will compete com-pete in the B tournaments although al-though still playing in the same league setup to reach the tournament playoffs. In football the team with the best record between Orem and Provo will earn the right for a playoff berth against a Re- gion Two or Three team alternating alter-nating each year. In basketball the team with the best record between Orem and Provo will automatically enter the A finals. fi-nals. Other schools of Region Four outlook will include three teams for the B football playoffs play-offs and two teams will make it to the state B basketball tournament. State set-up Under the newly voted setup set-up the "A" basketball tournament tourna-ment would be a 16 team event and played in Salt Lake City. The "B" tournament would be an 8-team event and would be played in Provo. Two teams from Region 4 would be entered enter-ed in the tournament. Regions 6, 7, 8 would rotate two positions po-sitions for state qualification. In the "C" schools tournament, tourna-ment, 16 teams would qualify and the tournament would be played in the southern part of the state. Schools in the "B" classification classifi-cation include: Am. Fork, Carbon, Car-bon, Lehi, PI. Grove, Payson, Sp. Fork, Springville, Uintah, Morgan, Union, Wasatch, East Carbon, Grand, Delta, Emery, Juab, Millard, North Sanpete, Richfield, Cedar City, Dixie. C setup In football the "C" tournament tourna-ment would include the following follow-ing schools: Region V, Dugway, Grantsville, North Summit, Park City, South Summit. Region Re-gion VI, Green River, Montt-cello, Montt-cello, Notre Dame, San Juan. Region VIII, Beaver, Hurricane, Kanab, Milford, Parowan.
