Show A&W team dethrones FOE as League champ Spring Creek WBBA league has a new winner for the first time in three years when the A&W Root Beer team came through the hard way to upset the heretofore title winning F. O. F.. club to take the championship. cham-pionship. It al lbegan when the FOE won the first half and A&W tied them and won the second half title, necessitating a playoff play-off for the crown. In a two-out-of-three game playoff FOE won the first contest con-test 7-1. A&W's only point was made on the first pitch of the game when Lynn Thomas hit a home run. Other homers were hit by Reece Ivie and Gary Simpson for FOE. Gary also did the chucking. A&W came back in the second sec-ond game to win 7-3 with James LeRoy pitching. The third contest was a real title-thrilling event. The game was tied at the end of the sixth at 7-7. In the seventh inning A&W made two runs and held the FOE team from scoring to win the title 9-7. Richard Sanford San-ford was the winning pitcher. Following the game, Robert Beardall, manager for the Spring Creek All-Stars .announced .announ-ced the players selected for the all-star team as follows: Danny Shepherd, Jerry Brian, Jerry Holdaway, Randy Gonzales, Brad Pendleton, Brad Thorpe, Reece Ivie, Gary Simpson, Gilbert Gil-bert Martinez, Tom Fox, Tim Parris, Lynn Thomas, Richard Jensen, Mike Brown and Jamey LeRoy. Alternates were Randy Robinson, Robbie Beardall and Dee Gardner. League officers extend a thank you to the parents for the support given the teams and coaches.
