Max Roper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roper, is one of six returning senior track let-termen. let-termen. Max was chosen captain cap-tain of this year's team by a ballot of all the track men. Last year Max was regular right fielder and was one of the best men at the plate. He has a very aggressive spirit and seems to thrive under pressure pres-sure when the going gets hard as exhibited by his outstanding work as a linebacker for the football team last fall. Again this; vear Max is our right field- TRACK CAPTAINS Robert Bailie and Paul Blanehard, top runners in the 440 and 880, have been selected as track captains at the Springville High School for this spring. er and seems to be headed in the right direction for another good year. Last week the SHS baseball team traveled to Pleasant Grove where they came out on top with a convincing 8-2 score. Steve Averett went the entire distance on the mound allowing only five hits while garnering his first victory. At the plate Stuart Hamilton got three hits in four trys while Tom Cherrington got two doubles dou-bles in the same Inning and Shirl Miner blasted out a triple. trip-le. Defensively it was Paul Blanehard at short and Don Conrad, catcher. Judging from the outcome of the first game, it looks as though it will be a good year with the season opening next Tuesday.
