Show Water report looks better While snow courses on watersheds wa-tersheds of Utah County show one and one-half to twelve times the water content they had one year ago, the general trend is only about 75 percent of average. Stanley Peterson, Soil Conservation Con-servation Service snow surveyor, survey-or, states that, "the lower elevation ele-vation snow courses show great increases over last year, and in some cases are near or above average. This does not, however, hold true on the higher high-er courses, most of which run from 65 to 70 percent of the 15 year average." Since there are still approximately approx-imately two months left during dur-ing which we usually continue to accumulate snow pack, the present situation could change considerably either up or down between now and the beginning of the irrigation season. Another Anoth-er thing which will definately effect the water supply picture in this area is the hold over storage in the major reservoirs. Strawberry Reservoir in particular par-ticular is far below the average m hold over storage, but is slightly improved over last year at this time. |
