Show Ashdown selected as superintendent JL LANDER, WYO. -Laurence Ashdown, a native of Cedar City who now resides in Lander, Wyo., was recently named superintendent of mining, crushing and maintenance at U. S. Steel's Atlantic City Ore Operations near Lander. Ashdown began his mining career at U. S. Steel's Utah Ore Operations at Cedar City in 1965 as a pit engineer. Two years later, he transferred to Atlantic City Ore Operations as a mining control engineer. In 1973, he was promoted to supervisor of field engineer. In 1973, he was promoted to supervisor of lirld engineering, moving to general foreman of mine services in 1975, and to supervisor of engineering services in 1976. One year later he was appointed chief engineer and has been in this position until now. He holds an A.S. degree from Southern Utah State College and a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Utah State University. He is a member of the Joint Powers Board for the Riverton Regional Airport. He and his wife, Diane, are the parents of live children. |
